From Finalist to Feature Film: The Space We Share Receives Recognition at the Wiki Screenplay Contest

I’m delighted to share that my debut feature screenplay, The Space We Share, was recently selected as a Finalist in the Wiki Screenplay Contest for June 2026.

Being recognised as a finalist is a huge achievement for me personally, particularly knowing that the screenplay was selected from hundreds of submissions from writers around the world.

There were so many fantastic screenplays entered into the competition, making the recognition of The Space We Share feel even more meaningful. For an independent filmmaker developing a debut feature, moments like this provide an important reminder that the story has genuine potential.

Recognition Along the Journey

The screenplay has gone through numerous drafts since I first began writing it back in early 2025, and it continues to evolve.

Receiving recognition from the Wiki Screenplay Contest has been particularly encouraging because it demonstrates that the story can resonate beyond my own circle and reach readers who have no prior connection to the project.

The judges also provided generous feedback on the screenplay, which has given me further insight into the strengths of the story and areas that can continue to be developed.

For me, awards aren't the reason I write.

But they are incredibly valuable reminders that the years of work, rewriting and development are moving the project in the right direction.

What's Next for The Space We Share?

The ultimate goal remains the same: to get 'The Space We Share' made as a feature film.

The screenplay is now being developed with the aim of finding the right producers, production partners and funding opportunities to bring it to the screen.

As an independent filmmaker based in Belfast, getting a debut feature made is undoubtedly a huge challenge. But I'm continuing to explore every possible route, from funding schemes and industry partnerships to independent financing.

I believe strongly in this story and in the audience it could reach.

This finalist recognition is another step forward, and hopefully one of many more to come.

Thank you to the Wiki Screenplay Contest judges for recognising 'The Space We Share', and for the time and thought they put into reading the screenplay and providing their feedback.

And thank you to everyone who has supported me and the project so far.

There is still a long road ahead, but The Space We Share is still moving forward.
